Did You Know?
The #1 reason store bought soap isn’t really soap is because it does not contain glycerin. Companies remove the glycerin from their soaps and put them in other products like lotions. Because there is no glycerin present, the soap ends up stripping your skin of it’s natural sebum causing it to dry out and making it vulnerable to cracking and flaking. The reason for this is to make you buy their soap and their lotion thus making you spend more money. You are actually saving money buying handmade soap because you get the cleansing properties as well as the moisturizing properties in one!
The #2 reason is most store bought soaps contain a long list of ingredients (chemicals) that can be detrimental to your health in the long run. Ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate are detergents that will clog your pores and cause acne. Who would want to put that on their skin? Real soap doesn’t do that. Because it’s real soap, it doesn’t need synthetic detergents to lather up. Each oil gives the soap specific characteristics when saponified. Coconut oil makes a more bubbly bar, olive oil makes a creamy lather and so on. Also, handmade soap preserves all the vitamins and minerals from each ingredient making it superior to store bought soap.
In conclusion, most commercial soaps aren’t really soap at all. They are detergents. Detergents are a petroleum based product, like gasoline and kerosene and NOBODY should want to bathe in that! Your skin deserves the best. Try our soap once and you’ll never go back to commercial soap again.
